Charles Barkley once said “There might be players that work just as hard as me, but nobody works harder.” Those words are the epitome of ArchBishop Riordan guard James Chun. Through countless reps and a desire to improve, he has made himself into a very difficult matchup that has tormented teams on a regular basis. I was fortunate to be able to interview the young man about his journey and development into who he has become.

Where does your work ethic come from?

My work ethic has always come from me loving the game. My parents never played sports and it was always something i wanted to do myself since i want to be the best.

Who are some of your favorite college players?

A couple of my favorite college players are Trae Young and KJ Maura.

Where was your favorite gym to play at and why?

My Favorite place to play is at my home gym of ArchBishop Riordan because of the amount of hours I’ve put into that gym. I also love the great atmosphere in there when it gets packed.

What is the most underrated aspect of your game?

The most underrated aspects of my game are my passing ability and leadership skills.

What weaknesses have you had to overcome in your career?

In my career, I’ve had to overcome not being able to shoot the ball well and to learn how to be a leader as well.

Now that you have committed to Chaminade University, what does it mean to you to be able to continue your career at the next level?

Committing to chaminade means the most to me. It is a good place to develop for the next four years. I think living in Hawaii will be a great experience for me as well since its such a good place to live.
