Prospect Spotlight: Clarence Cummings (2019)
A nice looking prospect that I saw from a few weeks ago was 2019 Evans guard/forward Clarence Cummings.
The 6’4″, 186-pounder came to play for the Showtime Ballers at the Team Parsons Pre-Live Shootout at The First Academy.
He says his biggest strength is being a tall guard who can play 1-4 positions and can guard all of them well. Cummings also says that being a two-sport athlete (playing football) makes him a versatile athlete.
He’s aiming to be a more consistent and that is something he says he’s working on.
This past season at Evans, Cummings said he learned how to work hard every day and compete every game. He says he knows one day that he could be playing KJ Simon or players from Oak Ridge.
He has no interest yet but he’s hoping that all changes this summer on the circuit. Cummings likes the opportunities he’s earning with Showtime so far.
Cummings is flying under the radar right now, but I think with a full summer spent with an athletic Showtime group, he’ll earn some looks from college programs. He has nice size for the two-spot and can play small forward in a pinch. Cummings is as tough as they come.
