Players to watch during April’s live period
The April live period for college coaches to take an evaluation of players is approaching and in this column PrepHoopsCo are taking a look at some prospects that should be getting some of those looks.
Jaden Gale – (Billups Elite) – Although he’s only heading into his junior season, now is the perfect time for him to breakout as his interest has started picking up. He’s a 6’6 point guard that has the ability to play 1-4. He has length and vision and makes high I.Q. passes. He gets to the lane easy and finishes over smaller defenders or stops for a developing pull-up. Once he knocks down his jump shot consistently, he just might be the best player in his class and will go after being named one of the top players in the state this upcoming season.
Lucas Moerman – (Pluto Prospects) – Has been having one of the most impressive starts to the summer out of anyone from any class. He’s an under the radar player that’s stock has certainly grown. He has really long arms and his length bothers opposing teams at 6’8. He is going into his junior season and is very raw but is rapidly progressing. His ceiling and upside is what separates him as he can become whatever he wants to be with improvements on the offensive end. This will be a crucial summer for him
Bryson Becker-(Colorado Chaos) – Has great size at 6’9. He’s raw, but shows upside with a high ceiling. Talented post player with a great motor as he runs the floor well. Kick starts the offense with his hustle and bangs underneath. Can finish in traffic and can put him in any system.
Luke O’Brien – (Colorado Miners) – Unsure how he’s gone under the radar. Once you see him, has off the chart talent. He’s 6’4 with an athletic build that can shoot the ball. Solid in transition running the floor as a wing or primary ball handler, has a smooth shooting stroke that can hit from anywhere and can defend more than one position on the floor. This will be his coming out year, might as well start it in April.
Will Becker – (Colorado Hawks) – Big summer for him as he is a Division 1 player that does everything well. On offense he is patient that fills spots, can shoot the mid-range as well as work around the basket from the inside out. He runs the floor, defends multiple positions and changes many shots at the rim. Rebounds in bunches and uses body well.
Caleb McGill -(Colorado Chaos)-Long and athletic with good timing on shot blocking and rebounding. Soft hands and has a soft touch around the rim. Has the ability to extend defenses out to the three point line.
John Harge – (Billups Elite) – Understands the game, has a good mid-range shot, can consistently make shots out to the three-point line. Highly skilled, high motor. Finishes above the rim, through traffic if needed and gets aggressive down low. Strong rebounder and capable passer. Has been receiving D1 looks.
Ronnie DeGray III–(Billups Elite) Has great wingspan, long and plays with high-energy. He brings the defensive identity to this team and plays with high confidence. He runs the floor well and can finish in transition. Attacks the basket as best as anybody in the state and will get plenty of looks with a big summer.
