Icebreaker (2020) Standouts
Prep Hoops takes a look at wish kids from the Palmetto State stood out in the 2020 Class from this weekend in North Augusta, SC at the Icebreaker Invitational.
Javon Benson – Ridge View HS – Carolina Wolves 16
Benson 6’7 post player wasn’t eligible this past season after transferring from Westwood HS to Ridge View HS. Prep Hoops first saw Benson play last spring in Greensboro, NC with then Team United South Carolina. Benson has great length and tries to leave the floor on every shot. Benson still needs to demand the ball more in the paint and be more assertive at times. Benson could be a nice addition to a already talented Blazers squad this coming season.
Jordan Burch – Hammond – Carolina Wolves 17
Burch just a sophomore plays up a age group. Burch is just so physically gifted and mature on the floor. Burch who will have a choice to play at the next level football or basketball over powers players in the paint.
Kelton Talford – Great Falls HS – Carolina Pressure 17 (pictured on the front)
Talford is a bouncy and extremely active player in the paint for the Carolina Pressure. Talford runs the floor very well and rebounds the ball well out of his area. Talford who plays up a age group averaged 19.4 ppg and 11.1 rebounds this season for the Red Devils. Talford has a motor that never seems to turn off while on the floor.
Darius Hough – Myrtle Beach HS – Team Charlotte 16
Hough recently enrolled into Myrtle Beach HS last month after being at Gray Collegiate. Hough is still learning the game but shows great athleticism. Hough ignited Team Charlotte 16 today with some big plays getting the ball to the basket and knocking down some short range jumpers.
Cha’Mar Martin – Airport HS – South Carolina Kings 16
Martin a left-handed combo guard was the one bright spot today for Head Coach Justin Metze. Martin has a very high arching shot and loved to shoot floaters in the lane.
