Great Lakes Potential 17u: Preview

Great Lakes Potential is looking forward to an exciting and competitive AAU/travel season. They have a talented roster that is ready to compete at 17u. GL Potential has a nice combination of skills. They have a floor leader, shooters, an athletic wing, and solid rebounders.


Zac Hernandez (2018, 6-0, PG, Portage Central)

“High IQ point guard that can get to the rim and hit the 3. Used ball screens effectively and communicates with teammates and coaches effectively.” – Coach Joe Pelak

Matt Pelak (2019, 6-2, G, Mattawan)

“Can play the 1 or 2. Has crazy handles. High IQ, will look to run the offense. Can also get hot. Went 3-4 on threes and had 5 assists in a district semi-final game against K Central.”

Luke Pelak (2019, 6-4, Wing, Mattawan)

”Physical wing player. Has worked hard on upper body strength. Improved defense from a year ago. Can stroke the 3 and drive and finish with contact. Has finesse to his game as well. Scored 10 points off the bench for Mattawan in a win at BC Central in the Fieldhouse this year.” – Coach Joe Pelak

Jamacca Goliday (2019, 6-6, F,  Portage Northern)

”Very long 6’5/6’6 forward. Versatile forward. Can bang down in the paint for rebounds or step out and hit a pick and pop three. Athletic big.” – Coach Joe Pelak

Jake Alt (2019, 6-1, G, Sparta)

”2 guard that can hit the open shot. Runs the floor well and moved the ball.” – Coach Joe Pelak

Tommy Unold (2019, 6-4, F, Mattawan)

”Played jv as a junior this year. Still learning the game, but has a strong passion to learn and become better. Rim runs effectively.”

Colin Deboer (2021, 6-0, G, Mattawan)

“Started at pg/sg this year for his freshman team. Good combo guard that can flat out score. Great shooter who has ice in his veins during crunch time.” – Coach Joe Pelak

”Versatile high energy guy that will run the floor. Can play multiple positions.” – Coach Joe Pelak

Tyler Burr (2019, 6-4, F, Vicksburg)

Luke Kerrins (2022, G, Mattawan)

”Lighting quick guard that will blow by any defender. Can also fill it up from deep in a hurry.” – Coach Joe Pelak

Yamar Lyons (2021, 6-4, C, Mattawan)

”Hard worker that gets in the gym before practice starts. Eager to learn and get better. Solid rebounder.” – Coach Joe Pelak
