OUTLOOK:
The KC Spurs feature some of the Kansas City area’s premier players and opened the 2018 grassroots season by finishing second in the Platinum Bracket at the Prep Hoops Route 66 Kick Off in Oklahoma City. The team has gotten big performances this spring already from Dalen Ridgnal and Keyon Thomas. An athletic 6’5 forward, Ridgnal brings a junk yard dog attitude to the court with the ability to rebound, defend and can even block shots. Thomas brings quickness and the ability to get to the basket and finish. He is a good passer and team leader and has an emerging outside shot as well.
Lee’s Summit North product Mikel Henderson is a superb ball handler and can get to the basket as well as shoot from the outside. Blue Valley 6’8 big man Siler Tschirhart is one of the state’s top big men with a tough, old-school post game, while Bishop Miege 6’6 wing Spencer Jones and Shawnee Mission Northwest 6’4 forward Dale Talley bring diverse skill sets to the court and the ability to play on the wing.
The KC Spurs were slated to play this weekend at Midwest Live in Omaha, Neb.
