The second session of the Adidas Gauntlet was held in Atlanta over the weekend and PrepHoopNC’s Justin Byerly took in the action. Here is a look at some of the top performers from the weekend.
Josh NickelberryStackhouse Elite’s James Glisson-Good frame, made a couple mid-range/three point shots early in the 1st half. Can step out and knock down the three. Thick body that can absorb contact.
Game Elite’s Ashton Hagans just finds ways to be productive. The Kentucky commit is a threat every time he is on the floor, whether he is scoring, defending or making assists. Finds a way to win.
2019 guard Josh Nickelberry with 11 points for Game Elite Gold. 3-6 from 3. Says UNC, Louisville, Michigan, Wake Forest & Kansas recruiting hardest.
Jamir Chaplin is having a really good game for Stackhouse Elite. Athletic, makes smart plays, high basketball IQ. Strong use of shot fake to get his points. Smooth, old school player that gets it done.
5’9, 2019 PG Jalen Benjamin-Finishes so strong for his size, absorbs contact and puts it in, keeps defender on his hip, strong with the ball, passes the ball in paint well and superb court vision. Stackhouse Elite up 28-11 on Las Vegas Knicks.
Another player to track on the talented Garner Road 16U squad is Djimon Bailey. Court vision, knows where to be on the floor, can get to the rim, has the tools and is just a matter of time before you have to know the name.
Kyle Rode was impressive today for Indiana Elite, 19 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists. Versatile player that can play almost any position on the floor.
6’9, 2020 F Day’Ron Sharpe is on his way. Skilled big man that excels in running the floor, getting deflections with his length, scoring at the rim.
6’9, 2019 F Ben Beeker for Team Loaded 704 developing into a player to see. Knocking down the turn around mid-range shot, rebounding, running the floor & altering shots.
