2020 Rankings Update: Shooting Guards
Now that the class of 2020 has completed their Sophomore seasons, they are about to embark on the huge spring and summers as they get ready to hit the AAU circuit. The shooting guard crop is one of the strongest position groups in the 2020 class. Here’s a look at the top shooting guards in the newly updated 2020 rankings:
Marques Warrick, Henry Clay – Of all the accolades that Warrick racked up in the postseason, perhaps the most impressive may be that Marques was voted Team MVP by his peers. That shows a lot about his leadership abilities. Marques is a big time scoring talent and could see offers come his way this summer on the Adidas Silver Gauntlet with CKY Magic.
Marcellus Vail, Collins – Vail is an example of a player who looks totally different with his high school team as opposed to his AAU role. Last spring and summer Marcellus scored a ton of points with the Kentucky Defenders then was a fourth option and role player for Collins. This summer, Marcellus is running with M.A.T.T.S. Mustangs for AAU and will hope to have more high scoring performances in front of college coaches.
Amari Taylor, Tates Creek – Amari is primed for a potential break out with the Louisville Magic this spring and summer. Taylor is back from his broken wrist that cost him most of his sophomore season at Tates and looking to impress coaches on the Adidas Gold circuit.
Reese Smith, Boyle County – Smith is a three sport star who finished his sophomore season playing with 2 broken fingers. Smith’s stock is hurt by the fact that he is no longer playing AAU basketball and is playing 7 on 7 football instead. Reese is capable of playing D1 football, D1 basketball or running D1 in track. Reese Smith is maybe the best athlete in the class of 2020 in Kentucky.
Howard Fleming, Male – Long, lanky and athletic, Fleming possesses big time potential and a high ceiling as a combo guard. For Howard to reach that lofty potential, he needs to have his motor running all the time and not just when he’s on offense. Fleming will get plenty of chances to prove himself to coaches as a member of the 16u Louisville Magic squad on the Gold Adidas Gauntlet.
