2019 Rankings Update: Biggest Risers
Now that the class of 2019 has completed their junior seasons, they are about to embark on the biggest spring and summer of their lives as they get ready to hit the AAU circuit for the final time. The top 10-12 players in this class are all Division 1 caliber and have offers already. Past that, the class is a mixed bag full of kids who can be small college players or wind up playing intramurals in college. Here’s a breakdown of the players who made the biggest moves up the rankings since our last update:
Connor Guthrie, Mayfield (26–>15) – The smaller of the Guthrie twins had a great junior season and received a lot of accolades as a result. Connor is a good shooter and hard nosed player that figures to find a college home at the D2 or low D1 level. Guthrie is a part of the Pocket City AAU 17u team that should be one of the top teams in the state.
Jordan Graham, George Rogers Clark (17–>11) – Graham saw his stock soar over the course of a 3 week period after the season ended. Jordan picked up 4 offers, including his first D1 offer from Tennessee Tech along with offers from Campbellsville, Pikeville and Tusculum College. Jordan will look to continue his positive momentum playing with M.A.T.T.S. Mustangs this spring and summer.
JJ Ramey, South Laurel (28–>17) – The super athletic wing made big strides this season playing for Coach Jeff Davis’ Cardinals. Ramey averaged 19 points and grabbed 6 rebounds per game in his Junior campaign. JJ should be the main offensive weapon for the Starz United 17u team.
Corey Girton, North Bullitt (Unranked–>19) Girton returned from a two year prep school run to play for North Bullitt from January on. Known to many as “Boogie”, Girton is a ridiculously athletic point who is at his best when driving at the rim or creating for others. Girton needs to become a better shooter to reach the college level.
Reid Jolly, Campbell County (Unranked–>24) – Jolly should have been in our earlier versions of the 2019 rankings but we’re rectifying that mistake now. Jolly averaged a double-double for the Camels team that advanced to the Elite 8 at Rupp Arena last month. Reid has started to attract the eyes of college coaches and recently visited Asbury University.
