2019 Madison County G Travis Jay talks state trip, football commitment and more
Committed to FSU to play football, Travis Jay helped Madison County reach the state Final Four in basketball this season.
The 6’2″, 185-pounder averaged 15.6 PPG, 10.8 RPG, 8.7 APG and 4.0 SPG serving as a jack of all trades with his speed and slashing ability for the Cowboys.
Madison County lost to Wildwood, 65-63 after leading for much of the Class 1A state semifinal finishing its season at 25-5 and in the state semifinal.
Jay, a 2019 guard says it was a blast, but coming up short really hurt. He wants to make it known that Madison County will be back next season.
With his commitment to FSU, Jay also has offers from the likes of Alabama, Miami, Clemson, Georgia, Auburn and Louisville. A cornerback in football, Jay says he wants to play basketball in college as well and show what he can do on the court.
He’ll be playing AAU ball with the Big Dawgs this summer.
No basketball offers have come yet for Jay.
He pointed to his ability to be an all-around guard, someone who is a good rebounder, passer, scorer and defensive player. He wants to improve his shot this off-season.
A naturally gifted athlete, Jay flys on the court whether that is in set plays or in transition. His cornerback skills come alive on the basketball court due to his leaping ability and skills as a battler on both ends of the floor.
