2018 Final Rankings: Top Forwards
The 2018 class is full of athletic forwards who can score inside and out. These guys should be impact players in college over the next 4 years. Several of the names at the top of this list are kids we have been hearing about since these young men were 8th graders but several others came along over the past few seasons to prove themselves as elite players in the state of Kentucky. Here’s a look at the top forwards in the 2018 class:
Mickey Pearson, John Hardin – Pearson ended his career holding every major record at John Hardin. Points, rebounds, field goal percentage, free throws made, etc. You name the record at John Hardin and Mickey probably owns it now. Mick will be at Saint Louis in the summer and projects to have a solid college career with his size and skill level.
Jay Scrubb, Trinity – Probably the best dunker in the state, Scrubb has expanded his game past just being a good athlete. With his ability to slash from the wing and an improved perimeter shot, Scrubb projects as a big time wing scorer in college. Jay is currently uncommitted and may have to go the junior college route but will eventually be an impact wing in college.
De’Torrion Ware, Christian County – One of the best 2018 scorers in Kentucky, Ware is in range once he steps in the gym. DeTorrion has made a lot of changes to his body after carrying extra weight his first two years of high school. Still uncommitted, Ware has recently talked with Saint Louis Coach Travis Ford and has interest from all levels of college.
JJ Reed, Paducah Tilghman – 6’6, strong and skilled, Reed is one of the best available prospects in the state. Evansville recently contacted the wing forward and he may still find himself at the D1 level before the dust settles on the recruiting season. JJ really developed his game over the last few years and he is a big time passer with the ball in his hands.
Devin Pendergrass, Butler – Another wing with great size, Pendergrass is strong and well built at 6’5. Devin could challenge for playing time at Georgetown next season and should make meaningful contributions for all 4 years at the NAIA powerhouse. Coach Briggs got a steal with the Butler wing.

Zan Payne, Lexington Catholic (Undecided)
Jared Coomer, Barren County (Air Force Academy)
Austin Hall, Lexington Christian (Cumberlands)
