Wednesday Sectionals: What Did We Learn
With Wednesday complete, we take a look through the day of games and highlight everything that happened and the best storylines of the bunch. Our look back at the second day of Sectionals.
Say Goodbye To Arlington, Northwest
Joining Arlington and Northwest will be Broad Ripple but for right now, we say goodbye to two programs that have produced quite a few good players in their lifetimes. Always tough to see things come to an end but this was compounded by the fact that they will no longer be schools moving forward. Tough way to go out but best of luck to the faculty and students as they make new roads next year.
Second Night, More Competition
While there wasn’t as many games, the games did seem more competitive than Tuesday. The games our crew were at with Attucks/Brebeuf, East Noble/Dwenger, and Henryville/Paoli were all very close. You also had some really competitive games with Munster and Lowell, Elkhart Central and Concord, and Forest Park and South Spencer came down to a tip-in to win it. However, there were no overtime games like the previous night.
Wins Setup Big Friday Matchups
The first round of games are over and now we are setup for a big Friday slate of game. Some of those were made possible by wins of Wednesday. Take for example East Noble who will have Fort Wayne Carroll and East Noble pair up with a combined 40-5 record. You also had South Bend St. Joseph and Culver Academies win to have a great Friday game. One of the more underrated games will be Morristown vs. Hauser on Friday night. Really competitive game between rivals.
Quick Hits:
East Noble 59, Bishop Dwenger 49 – Good win for East Noble but about to see how good they are.
Fort Wayne South 75, Muncie Central 73 – Much closer than I thought it would be.
Crispus Attucks 58, Brebeuf Jesuit 53 – Really good win for Attucks. Brebeuf can’t get over the hump.
Heritage Christian 45, Indianapolis Arlington 37 – Tough test for HC and they keep on surprising.
Henryville 73, Paoli 60 – Henryville surprised with how well they played, could go further than I thought.
Tell City 52, Evansville Mater Dei 31 – Was way off on this. Though Mater Dei would keep it closer.
Hauser 69, Rising Sun 51 – This was really close for most of the game until Hauser turned it on.
