Top Rebounders at the North Dakota Class B Tournament
There have been a fair amount of big men in the 2017-18 Class B Boys state tournament that have made some highlights in the paint. With the championship matchup set, we take a look at the Top 5 rebounders in the tournament.
Jack Camrud | F 6-5 | Hillsboro-Central Valley
Any time the basketball is in air, Jack Camrud is there. The senior forward is a hawk underneath the rim and once he coralls the rebound it’s going back in the cup. Camrud finished with 18 rebounds in Hillsboro-Central Valley’s semifinal victory over Carrington. He’s also recorded 31 rebounds in two games at the state tournament with 13 of them being offensive.
Macauley Young | C 6-9 | Shiloh Christian
One of North Dakota Class B’s tallest players, Macauley Young is a tower on the inside. He’s not the quickest to the basketball but he’s always in the right place at the right time. It also helps when he sky’s over his opponents. The junior center has 21 rebounds in two games as 16 of them have been defensive rebounds.
Anthony Vetter | F 6-4 | Bishop Ryan
Anthony Vetter is a player with some muscle in the paint. He won’t out jump every player but he will out work them. Once he grabs the rebound and passes it off to one of Bishop Ryan’s guards, Vetter then runs the floor. The senior forward finished with 10 rebounds in the Lions semifinal win over St. John.
Kaedyn Hanson | C 6-6 | Stanley
Coming into the tournament Kaedyn Hanson was Top 5 in rebounding and he’s continue to show up on the state’s biggest stage. Hanson is a big body down low and has hauled down 20 rebounds in the tournament. Stanley has four players 6-foot-4 or taller but Hanson is the rebounding machine for the Blue Jays.
Aaron Bohnenstingl | F/C 6-2 | Wyndmere-Lidgerwood
Aaron Bohnenstingl is undersized for a post player but that doesn’t stop him from fighting for a rebound. The senior forward/center has hauled down 19 rebounds against teams that have much taller post players than him. But Bohnenstingl has a work ethic off the charts for a player that crashes the boards often.
BONUS PICK:
Mason Hedberg | G 6-1 | Bishop Ryan
Mason Hedberg is known for shooting from beyond the arc but he’s also been a surprising good rebounder this week. He lead his team with seven rebounds in Bishop Ryan’s quarterfinal win Thursday. The junior guard has 13 rebounds in two games and didn’t even enter the tournament Top 15 in rebounding.
