Bearden (38-1) and Mt. Juliet (27-8) was a back and forth game with Bearden holding a slight edge for most of the game. They would make a small run, then Mt. Juliet would answer. The game would go back and forth until Mt. Juliet took a 28-27 lead, Bearden then used a 10-0 run to establish a lead they would not give up. Series of late scores and free throws pushed their lead up to 21. Bearden moves on 61-43
Juliet guard Will Pruitt was the only underclassman who saw significant playing time, playing a team high 29 minutes. He recorded eight points to go along with four rebounds and two assists.
Roman Robinson and Jacques Glover may not have stuffed the stat sheet, but the guards played a nice game for Bearden. The 6’3” JR Robinson had great ball handling skills and a solid foundation for his jump shot. He recorded nine points. Glover ran point most of the game and was a solid distributor who scored when he needed to. He finished with 10 points, two boards, three assists, and two steals.
Trent Stepheny put the game away with a pressure steal near half court that he finished with a back breaking breakaway dunk to make the score 51-37 with the minutes winding down in the 4th.
Juliet Sr G Jordan Lockridge kept Mount Juliet in the game late knocking down three 3s in the 4th quarter. He was shooting under some duress, with good defensive pressure applied most of the game, but if his feet were set his shot was solid.
Trent Stepheny applied defensive pressure all game and made life difficult for the Mt. Juliet guards. He recorded a game high four steals.
In addition to leading his team defensively Trent Stepheny also had a great offensive game, pouring in a game high 19 points to go along with his five rebounds.
Trent Stepheny lead the team on both ends of the court, had the play of the game, and hit a 2nd dunk on a nice ally-oop finish. He finished with 19 points, five rebounds, and four steals to lead Bearden to the win.
