Prep Hoops takes a look at some players that really could be factors this weekend as Breakout Candidates in the State Finals at the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia.
Class 1A : Hemingway vs Ridge Spring-Monetta – Saturday
Class 2A : Gray Collegiate vs Carvers Bay – Friday
Class 3A ; Ridgeland-Hardeeville vs Greenville Southside – Saturday
Class 4A : Wilson (Florence) vs Ridge View – Saturday
Class 5A : Dorman vs Irmo – Friday
Aaron Parker (2020) Hemingway
Parker has been consistent all season long for the Tigers. Parker a guard shows a lot of confidence on the floor and doesn’t mind having the ball in crunch time. Parker can hit shots when the Tigers need a boost on offense.
Jerry Tyler (2019) Ridge Spring-Monetta
Tyler is a virtual unknown for the most part throughout the Palmetto State. Tyler is averaging 17 ppg this season for the Trojans. Tyler likes to score the ball when given the chance is a great athlete all-around. Tyler tends to forces shots at times but Coach Wright seems to give him a green light on the offensive end.
Stephon Greene (2019) Carvers Bay
Greene 6’5 has been steady all season long and really played at a solid level for the Bears. Greene doesn’t play much AAU being out in rural Georgetown County. Greene and his Bears teammates will play the underdog role for sure against a very talented Gray Collegiate team this Friday.
Rashamel Butler (2019) and Devin Butler (2019) Ridgeland-Hardeeville
The Butler boys play on the opposite end of the state than their opponents this Saturday in Greenville Southside. Rashamel averaged over 18 ppg this season while Devin came up big in the Lower State Finals vs Wade Hampton scoring 19 points. The Butler’s have Head Coach Jeremiah Faber in the 3A State Championship again where he was in 2015.
Dylan Williams (2022) Irmo
Williams is just a 8th grader that sees quality minutes for veteran Head Coach Tim Whipple. Williams is very mature for his age on the floor and shows no lack of confidence.
