Spring Preview: 2021 Top Centers
The spring is now just about here and we are spending time over the next month preparing and previewing all you need to know about the 2021 class as AAU gets ready to get going. We will breakdown many areas with not only position breakdowns but the best of the best. Today, we are looking at those top centers in the 2021 class.
# | Prospect | HT | POS | High School |
1 | Rocco Muratori | 6’10 | C | West Lafayette |
2 | Trey Kaufman | 6’5 | C | Silver Creek |
3 | Cam Brown | 6’6 | C | University |
4 | Cooper Jones | 6’5 | C | Valparaiso |
Breakdown: While the power forwards have a ton of options, finding more true centers in any class the last decade is becoming increasingly more difficult. However, this foursome is still really good. Rocco Muratori has a chance to be special and Kaufman is one of the more interesting prospects in the whole class.
There aren’t a lot here now but a normal class in Indiana will have anywhere from 10 to 15 centers by the time they are seniors. Having only four right now is a little low but when you combine it with the power forwards to look at just size in the class, it is really special. There will be more that show themselves this summer so there isn’t a ton of concern because development is always much more difficult the taller you get.
Rocco is the highest upside player as he already has the size you want and if and when he puts on the strength, he could really blossom. Kaufman is long, and skinny but can shoot it for his size and isn’t going to be 6’5 for long. Cam is well built already and has that low post skill to be productive for all four years of his career. Cooper Jones is a tough and physical player and has surprised in the games we have seen this year with his ability to score on the low block.
