Show-Me State standouts in the NCAA Tournament
The NCAA Tournament will feature several former Show-Me State standouts. Here is a list of those players.
Jontay Porter 6’11” Missouri (Father Tolton): Porter was the SEC’s Sixth Man of the Year and was named to the All-Freshman Team with his all-around play. Porter averaged 10.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.1 blocks while shooting 37 percent from 3-point range.
Landry Shamet 6’4″ Wichita State (Park Hill): The smooth combo guard averaged 15 points a game to lead the Shockers in scoring while also averaging 3.2 rebounds, 5.1 assists while shooting 50 percent from the field and 45 percent from 3-point range.
Michael Porter, Jr. 6’10” Missouri (Father Tolton): After missing virtually the entire season with after back surgery, the 2017 prep Player of the Year returned to the Mizzou lineup in the SEC Tournament and had 12 points and seven rebounds against Georgia in St. Louis.
Courtney Stockard 6’6″ St. Bonaventure (Jennings): Stockard played a big role in getting the Bonnies into the tournament with several huge performances down the stretch. He averaged 12.9 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists while shooting 49 percent from the field.
Jordan Barnett 6’8″ Missouri (CBC): Barnett enjoyed an excellent senior year for the Tigers, averaging 13.7 points and 5.9 rebounds while shooting 41 percent from 3-point range.
Xavier Sneed 6’6″ Kansas State (Hazelwood Central): The athletic sophomore wing averaged 10.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.6 steals for the Wildcats while providing the occasional highlight-reel dunk.
Kevin Puryear 6’7″ Missouri (Blue Springs South): The sophomore combo forward is currently averaging 8.6 points and 4.7 rebounds while shooting 82 percent from the free throw line.
Arlando Cook 6’8″ Arkansas (Madison Prep): The reserve forward is averaging 10 minutes a game for the Razorbacks.
Levi Stockard 6’8″ Kansas State (Vashon): the freshman forward is averaging nine minutes a game for the Wildcats.
Cullen Van Leer 6’4″ Missouri (Pacific): The senior guard was a valuable reserve for the Tigers who suffered a season ending knee injury in the regular season finale against Arkansas.
Josh Webster 6’5″ Texas Tech (CBC): The junior guard is averaging five minutes a game for the Red Raiders.
Shea Rush 6’6″ North Carolina (Barstow): The sophomore forward is a walk-on for the defending national champions.
Austin Sotille 6’4′ TCU (SLUH): The former Jr. Bill is a walk-on forward for the Horned Frogs.
