Senior Sunday: Recruiting Updates
Each Sunday in the winter we will be providing updates on a group of unsigned seniors from a variety of college levels and different parts of the state. Check out our latest Senior Sunday: Recruiting Updates!
Ben Tompson (Bartlett)
Tompson is a sharp shooter that can really let it fly from deep. Last weekend he made his commitment to attend Loras. Great pick up for the senior who broke out late in July with his perimeter stroke. Tompson is the #100 recruit in the state and will join Jared Cruther from West Aurora in Loras’ class.
Ryan Phillips (Jacobs)
Make it a double play for Loras as they also picked up a commitment from Jacobs shooting guard Ryan Phillips. He is a floor spacing shooter that showed well in spurts for Wisconsin Playground Elite last summer.
Carter Higginbottom (St. Ignatius)
The competitive lead guard from St. Ignatius accepted a preferred walk-on opportunity last Sunday to attend Wisconsin. The senior has deep family connections to the Badgers program and it was a dream for him to be on the Big 10 team. He had multiple D3/NAIA options.
Demarius Jacobs (Hillcrest AZ – Formerly Uplift)
Last Sunday former Uplift shooting guard Demarius Jacobs made his commitment to attend St. Louis University. The two guard visited officially and ultimately committed to the Atlantic 10 program. He is having a strong second half to his prep school season at Hillcrest in Arizona.
Kevin Caldwell (Alton)
The Alton senior point guard tells us that he is down to University of Mary and William Penn. William Penn offered him in mid-January. University of Mary was in this past week to see him play. No timetable for a decision right now. He will visit schools after the season has concluded.
Robert Harvey (Hillcrest)
Harvey has had an outstanding senior campaign for Hillcrest. The scoring wing has plus athleticism and has become a consistent shooter from deep. Harvey tells PHI that he has interest from St. Louis, Tennessee Tech, Eastern Illinois, Lafayette, and South Carolina Upstate. No offers. Tennessee Tech game out to a game recently and Eastern Illinois saw him practice. No visits scheduled at this time.
RJ McGee (Kenwood)
McGee is an athletic scoring two guard with upside. The senior tells us that his recruitment right now is a bit all over the place. No offers at this time, but he has heard from North Dakota State and Brown. University of Missouri St. Louis talked to his high school coach. Western Nebraska has been in contact. He recently visited Benedictine.
Cam Burrell (Morgan Park)
Burrell has really elevated his stock a ton this season rising all the way up to #33 in the current PHI rankings. The high energy four man rebounds and plays above the rim. He says he is being recruited by UT-Rio Grande Valley, Quinnipiac, Eastern Tennessee State, Morgan State, Eastern Illinois, and St. Bonaventure. No offers at this time. ETSU came to see him play in February.
Justin Boyd (Whitney Young)
This 3 and D shooting guard is still looking for a school. He is a solid catch and shoot threat from three and can defend in the backcourt. Worth consideration at the D3, NAIA, and JUCO levels. He received his first college offer this past week from Florida Gateway College which is starting up their basketball program next season
Terrence Shannon (Lincoln Park)
Shannon is one of the most intriguing prospects in the state. The 6’6” forward handles it, shoots from deep, and has athleticism. Plays a point-power forward position almost. He doesn’t hold any offers at this time, but says that UAB and James Madison have picked up their interest level. Prep school appears to be a very realistic option. Might be a great idea to help improve his academics, on the court game, and will help his recruitment by getting seen more on the circuit this spring/summer.
Ronnie Allgood (Proviso West)
Allgood is a productive undersized four man that can face up and handle some as well. Per his travel team coach Sean Connor he will most likely go the JUCO route. Morton, Oakton, Lincoln Trail, and Malcolm X are involved. He says that Lewis is monitoring him if he qualifies.
