With everything on the line, Warren Central got off to a great start as they were searching for their first Sectional Championship since 2000. Joe Rush was the leader early on and Lawrence Central just came out flat leading to a crazy 12-1 Warren Central lead after the first quarter.

Rush was impressive early on getting tons of scrap points and dumpoffs from Tate and Cushingberry.  However, things picked up quickly in the second as Lawrence Central scored 14 points in the second quarter and got back on track.

After halftime, Lawrence Central continued to battle and really got D’Andre Davis going and they outplayed Warren in the middle two quarters. Then, Warren started to fight back.

They got their own offense going and were able to finish things off at the free throw line even though they were really slowing down possessions. Warren was extremely efficient when they needed to be and that won out in the end as they took down Lawrence Central, 47-42.

Best Offensive Player: D’Andre Davis (Lawrence Central)
While the first quarter was one to forget for all Lawrence Central players, Davis really stepped up in the final three. He was doing well creating off the bounce and able to pull-up in the middle of the floor.  His jumper was really working for him and things got better as the game went on. Warren didn’t really have an answer for him and his 13 points were big down the stretch to catch up.

Best Defensive Player: Antwaan Cushingberry (Warren Central)
Have to give credit not only to Cushingberry, but I thought Dean Tate did a good job as well containing Lawrence Central’s guards. Nijel Pack and Jaden Terry struggled to really get things going in this one.  Their on-ball defense and rebounding ability were key in this game.

Biggest Surprise: Joe Rush’s First Half Surge
When you look at this roster, Joe Rush isn’t a guy high up on the scouting report. Could probably slot him around 6th or 7th. But that is what makes this Warren Central team great. They have pieces like Rush they can count on at any given time and it will give them a chance to come out on top because other teams probably aren’t game planning for them.

Top Scorers:
