Novi guard Trendon Hankerson had a tremendous senior campaign after returning from injury in January.
“I played very well, considering I was coming off of a foot injury. I contributed to our wins and was efficient on the offensive and defensive end.”
A jumbo lead guard at 6’3, Trendon has the ability to create his own shot off the bounce and get into the paint where he displays a great pull-up midrange jumper going left. A versatile prospect, Hankerson also excels off-ball where he spaces the floor with a nice looking stroke from distance off the catch. As a playmaker for others, the senior floor general shows nice vision out of pick and roll sets and really excels with post entry passes. Perhaps his most underappreciated facet is converting at the rim. Trendon has really good body control and shows a willingness to get into the chest of the shotblocker to create space where he’s comfortable finishing with either hand.
“I’d say my biggest strengths are setting the pace, shooting, and getting to the basket,” Hankerson told Prep Hoops.
Trendon’s strong play this year has paid off on the recruiting front, as he picked up an offer from Northwood following a Quarterfinal victory over Belleville.
“I have offers from Ohio Dominican, Northwood University, University Of Indianapolis and interest from University of Detroit and Elon.”
Hankerson is looking to make a decision in the coming weeks and is intent on choosing a program that holds his skillset in high regard, while having good academics.
“I plan on making a decision some time before the end of April or mid-May. Big factors for me are going where I am going to be valued and where I can maintain a solid education throughout 4 years.”
