Recruiting Report: Travis Yohnke (2019)
The 23-2 season of Parkers Prairie continues tomorrow but for now we look back at the year with talented Panther junior Travis Yohnke. Yohnke is an excellent basketball player, but an even better football player.
“Things are going great this season,” Yohnke said. “We are 23-2 and also won conference for the first time in 10 years. We have great team chemistry.
“We have really high hopes heading into playoffs. We have a QRF of 106. We are looking to make a run and hopefully have our first state appearance in school history. Our team chemistry is great. It’s hard to guard our whole team.”
Who must Parkers Prairie get through? Ranked Hancock and NCE/U-H as well as others like Ortonville, Henning, Battle Lake, and Pelican Rapids. A tough section no doubt. Seniors Ryan Blake and Austin Koep team with Yohnke among others to make the team the contender they are. This year Yohnke has became a more versatile player and a more aggressive producer.
“I have been more aggressive this year than in past,” Travis said. “Instead of looking to get an assist I am looking to drive to the hoop and also can knock in the mid-range jump shot. My moves in the lost have improved greatly. I’m using my size to score”
As we mentioned Travis is an excellent football player that will have several future options in the sport.
“I’ve been talked to by a couple colleges for football,” Yohnke said. “I have been in contact with the University of Northern Iowa, North Dakota State, North Dakota, South Dakota State, and the University of Minnesota. A couple of D3s have contacted me for basketball.”
