Combo guard Goodnews Kpegeol averaged more than 18 PPG for North St. Paul this year, his final as a Polar.
He helped his team reach a 22-4 record, a Metro East Conference title, and gain plenty of momentum… but the first opponent in sections, Tartan, is a very familiar one.
“It’s a huge rivalry game,” Goodnews told NHR about the #4 and #5 seed matchup in Section 4AAAA. “Everyone comes out to watch, there’s a lot of trash-talking. Teachers are excited and everyone is just amped for the game. We just have to stick to the game plan and be disciplined. We have to play solid D, and if we do that, there’s no doubt that we win this game.”
Kpegeol was recently ranked 4th in Ryan James’ list of the top 25 uncommitted seniors (it’s a really good list, take a look). He’s waiting out his options, trying to maximize his opportunities. He has previously listed offers from junior colleges Mineral Area, Northeast Nebraska, Lake Region, Highland in Illinois and Panola in Texas.
“Recruitment is going alright,” Goodnews said. “I still have lots of interest, but I’m just waiting for the university that will believe in me full throttle.”
Four-year schools calling Kpegeol include South Dakota, NDSU and Loyola (Illinois).
Tonight’s big game tips off at 7 PM at North St. Paul H.S.
