Recruiting Report: Eli Campbell (2019)
Minneapolis North guard Eli Campbell was having a great season as the Polar’s third leading scorer before injury ended his year. Catch Campbell playing with Grassroots Sizzle this 17u season!
The Polars of course came up one game short of state but they still had a strong season winning 23 of 29 games against a solid schedule.
“This season things went well for us,” Eli said. “We had a couple losses in the beginning of the season but we figured it out and got back playing polar basketball. Sadly we came up short to BC but you win some you lose some. We’ll be back next year faster, stronger, and better.”
North will continue to be one of the better teams in the state. A senior group of Campbell, Nasir El-Amin, and Omar Brown combining with the young talent like Tre Holloman, Willie Wilson, and others will have this team continually competing. Campbell was having a strong year shooting the ball and handling it before injury.
“Some things I’m doing better now than the past years is just going out there and playing,” Eli said. “Having confidence in my self is the biggest improvement I’ve made.”
Grassroots Sizzle is on the Under Armour circuit once again and Campbell will be one of their standout guards.
“This year I’m playing with Grassroots 17u on the UA circuit with a couple of the Minnehaha kids. We’re looking pretty good, I’m looking forward to playing on the top team this year and on the circuit.”
Campbell is still looking to make a name for himself with college coaches which is hard to do when he missed games this year. He will likely grab the attention of schools this 17u year.
“Coaches haven’t directly talked me but I have gotten letters from a few colleges,” Eli said. “Hopefully after this AAU season I’ll be having college coaches trying to contact me.”
