Recruiting Report: CJ Wilbourn (2019)
Normal Community 2019 post CJ Wilbourn is a 6’6” four man that has a great frame with broad shoulders, strength, and mobility. He is a good rebounder around the hoop playing physical on the block. Also flashes some post moves showing growth in that area. With the lack of posts in the 2019 class Wilbourn will be closely monitored by low-major and mid-major programs over the next few months with Quad City Elite. This is a prospect we are really looking forward to seeing his development throughout the summer.
Wilbourn spoke about this season at Normal Community.
“This junior season has been good this year. The team and I got off to a hot start at the beginning of the season. I’ve shot well from three point range and overall from the field. Defensively I also have been effective against other teams big men.”
Where has he seen the biggest improvements in his game?
“I’ve become more consistent in scoring in the post and shooting threes. Another area of improvement is my passing. I’ve been able to set up my teammates by reading the defense and making the right plays or them to score. Also defensively I’ve done a good job constantly shutting down the other team’s big men.”
The junior gave us the latest with his recruitment.
“The University of South Dakota and I have been talking throughout the season. I’ve been invited after the season to come for a visit. I’ve also been contacted by Wright State throughout the season. Wright State, South Dakota, and Loyola have come to open gyms at the school to watch me play and I’ve talked to those coaches at the open gyms. Those are the main three schools contacting me at the moment.”
Wilbourn will get plenty of looks on the circuit this spring and summer with Quad City Elite 17U.
