Recruiting Report: 2019 EJ Jarvis
The number five player that comes in our Maryland/DC rankings is 6’8 center, EJ Jarvis. EJ had a terrific junior season for Maret and really took over a role down low in post after the departure of Iowa Freshman, Luka Garza.
“I thought the season went really well. A lot of people thought we weren’t going to do as well since we lost Luka but I think just me, Luke and Elijah being the team captains, we really picked up the slack and we still went out there every game and played our hardest, from the bench to the starting five, I think everybody really brought their own and held it throughout the whole season.”
Jarvis brings great versatility onto the court. He can post up down low, he can run the floor well, blocks shots on defense and rebound on both sides of the ball. He is a guy that will do whatever his coach asks and this has caught lots of different college coaches attention.
“Right now I have a couple offers and I am in constant contact with other schools. I was out last summer so my recruitment kind of slowed down but I did pick up some offers while I was hurt but I am looking forward to this summer and looking forward to seeing the colleges interested in me.”
When asked about what schools he is hearing from the most, he mentioned, “definitely Yale, they were at our game the other day, I heard recently from Rice, UVA, Notre Dame, Columbia, Penn, George Washington and Lehigh.” He broke down those schools for us.
Yale: “They tell me to just keep on playing hard. They recently offered me and they said they will keep their eye on me and Coach Jones said to keep on playing hard.”
Rice: “Rice just gives me updates about their school and talking about their program and how everything is going down in Texas.”
Virginia: “Their head coach has texted me a couple times before some of their games just telling me and giving me updates about how the team is doing, about what they do off the court and just stuff like that.”
Notre Dame: “They came to one of my games this year and they said they would like me to run the floor a little better and that they would like to see me play a little bit harder so whenever a coach tells you to do that, no matter who it is, you have to play harder.”
Columbia: “Columbia has a beautiful campus in the city and I loved meeting the coaches and I like how they are recruiting players from this area.”
Penn: “The facilities, campus and the coaching are all amazing I know a couple people from DC who go to Penn and they have been talking to me. I went to their campus and I thought it was very nice.”
George Washington: “GW offered me when I went on an unofficial visit and I like the coaches, I think they are great coaches. It is close to him and again they just said they like my game and they keep giving me tips on how to improve it and I take what they give me, what any coach gives me and I just try to improve it.”
Lehigh: “Lehigh recently offered me and they came to a game early in the season and the head coach liked what he saw and a couple nights later they called to offer me.”
Look for some more schools to get more involved this spring and summer as he will be playing for Team Takeover.
