Prep Hoops / Swanny’s UNSIGNED Event – POST Players
This past weekend 64 players took played in the 3rd Annual Prep Hoops / Swanny’s Roundball Review UNSIGNED Event in Sumter at Lakewood HS. The event didn’t feature a lot of post players but here are some players that need a look still for next season.
Jerrel Kelly – Laurence Manning Academy (Manning)
Kelly has a lot of talent and skills to play the game. Kelly 6’9 just needs to bring it all together and bring that attitude and effort to the floor each day. Kelly a left-handed slender post is a very good passer from the high post and likes to play out on the perimeter. Kelly averaged 14.2 ppg and 12.3 rebounds this season for the Swampcats.
Kelly will take a official visit to Gulf Coast State College (FL) in the near future according to Laurence Manning Academy Head Coach Will Epps. Trinity Valley Community College, Chipola College, Seward County (KS) and USC Salkehatchie have all show interest in the forward. Kelly will need to go the junior college route.
Hunter Donald – Palmetto HS (Williamston) (pictured on front)
Donald had a good showing here today at the event. Donald 6’8 is very slender and rangy. Donald has the ability to face-up from 10-12 feet on the floor. Donald must get stronger. Donald ran the floor the very well and posted up well. Donald has received some interest from North Greenville (SC) and Erskine (SC) both NCAA D2 Schools according to his father.
Ahkeem Lawson – Lakewood HS (Sumter)
Lawson 6’6 has the ability to step-out and knock down the 12-14 footer. Lawson has been up and down all season long. Lawson who will need to entertain junior college options averaged 9.5 ppg and 5 rebounds last season for the Gators. Lawson needs to stay more consistence with his effort at times as the tools when he decides to figure it out.
