High school basketball is over and we’re on to AAU season. The 2020 class is uneven at this point and Justin Powell has the only offers in the state so far. Here’s a look at some players who could really boost their stock in the spring AAU season and earn their first college offer.

2020 Tates Creek G Amari Taylor

Amari Taylor, Tates Creek (Louisville Magic) – Finally healthy after a broken wrist early in the high school season, Taylor has “old man game”. Amari is skilled and crafty. When we first debuted our 2020 class rankings, Amari was in the top 5 and he’ll look to get back to that ranking with a strong spring playing with the Magic on the Adidas Gold circuit.

Cody Potter, Shelby Valley (Team Vision) – Potter was one of the higher scoring sophomores in the state and has a chance to earn some college interest if he can prove that he can guard his college position. Team Vision is one of several teams playing on the Adidas Silver this season. Cody will have chances to impress college coaches.

Alex Matthews, John Hardin (Hoop Dreams) – One of the key contributors for the 5th region champions, Matthews averaged a double double for the Bulldogs. With a strong Spring, he can garner some college interest. Alex will need to show that he can play outside the paint as well as he plays in it. Coaches will look for him to show the ability to guard the perimeter too.

Trey Brock, Bell County (M.A.T.T.S. Mustangs) – After playing his 15u season out of state with B. Maze Elite and missing a large portion of his sophomore season with an injury, Brock is ready to make a statement this spring. Armed with elite level athleticism and solid perimeter skills, Brock figures to catch the eyes of a few coaches in April.

Kobe Brents, Glasgow (Team Tae) – After averaging 14 points and 2 rebounds for Glasgow, Brents looks to continue his hot shooting in the spring after hitting 42% from 3 for the Scotties this year. Kobe will play with Tennessee based Team TAE on the Adidas Silver Gauntlet.

2020 South Laurel G Matt Cromer

Matt Cromer, South Laurel (CKY Magic) – Cromer is a smooth wing who never shies away from the big shot. Coming off a strong sophomore campaign for the 13th region Runner-Up, Cromer finds himself with the CKY Magic for AAU season. Paired up with guards like Marques Warrick and Kaelin Drakeford, Cromer should see plenty of chances to score and dole out assists.
