The 2018 Class begins their way through the slew of post season events and that started today with the Hoosier Basketball Top 60 Workout. It’s built as a recruiting platform and a chance to those talented individuals to be seen the the All-Star Selection Committee. Here is our notebook from the early session today.
*DeAndre Gholston of 21st Century looked really good today. He’s a guy we did’t get to see a ton of over his career but he’s been good pretty much each time. Think he can do really well at Kent State as more of a wing, 2/3, than a primary ball handler. He’s athleticism showed off more today.
*Nick Walker of Henryville is still available. The 6’3 guard was really impressive in Sectionals with his ball handling ability and scoring. Better suited for uptempo play but good academics and versatility to spare. Should be given some looks from NAIA and DIII programs.
*Jaylin Chinn of Evansville Bosse continues to impress. He’s really stepped up as a senior and seems to be very comfortable in his game. His mid-range ability was on point and the toughness he plays with is something that others feed off of. Just picked up a University of Indianapolis offer. Should be a DII/NAIA/DIII guy.
*Joe Rush of Warren Central had himself a day. Was really impressed with his ability to just make plays. Nothing special about what he does but he’s the type of guy you can always count on to get things done. A little more time and he could get better as his offense progresses. Could be a JUCO kid or an NAIA/DIII level prospect.
*Sean East of New Albany is still out there. The talented guard has been having himself a really good season and for those that have paid attention, he’s separated himself from his teammates. Shooter first but creation ability going North and South is pretty solid too. Should be getting more NAIA and DII looks.
*De’Angelo Ware of Evansville Bosse is another really attractive player who should be getting a few more looks. His size and strength were on display and he has plenty of offense. Could fit in as a 1/2/3 at the next level and NAIA and DII schools should be involved.
*Asher Blum of Fort Wayne South was pretty good today. A kid that showed a little more value as a defensive player. He’s pretty mobile and the frame has strengthen up to the point where he can be more physical. Really good get for Grace College.
*Peyton West of Wapahani was solid today. A guy that can really play uptempo and speed the game up. He’s tall but thin and that helps him when he likes to slash. Right now more of a three or slash guy that goes North and South. Should be looking at DIII and NAIA programs.
