NHR Playoff Central: Snowy but March is Rolling
March Madness has arrived. Some teams are starting later than others, but it’s time for March Madness! NHR Playoff Central is here.
Upset City! Lyle-Austin Pacelli knocked off 19-win Randolph last week in the biggest upset today. The Rockets had big plans but a 60-54 win by the A’s cut those plans off. Five-foot-5 senior guard Trinity Anderson had a huge game for his career scoring 23 and freshmen Zach Bollingberg scored 16. Bollingberg and Jed Nelson are a pair of quality freshmen for Pacelli.
This has been the only upset to date as the rest of the playoffs have moved along without much of a ripple.
Monday’s Big Stage . At the point of writing this Monday’s game have been reduced to five, and it could fall even more. The game of the night is Byron versus Zumbrota-Mazzepa who are both 20 win teams going at one another in the Civic Center. Great senior wing battle of Jacob Niebuhr and Isaiah Nolte against Michael Coble and Bjorn Knutson. At 18-8 Stewartville takes on Lake City, also at the Civic Center. Sam Barnes has some big responsibilities leading his backcourt against Marc Kjos and Nathan Heise (Carter Groski vs Zach Bremmer inside will be good too). If the games are played down that way, it will be hard to enjoy a double-header as good as this one this week.
Section 7A. The 7a games are still scheduled as of now as well. Cherry/Littlefork, South Ridge/Hill City, and Mountain Iron-Buhl/Northeast Range are all still being played. This is the North Woods section that of course received a bye. Outside of these two sections, the rest of a busy Monday schedule has been re-scheduled. And here were are at 2pm on Monday, and the snow is still marginal. Do we have to worry about games tomorrow being cancelled?
Tuesday! The schedule is much bigger but the amount of big games is still isn’t huge. There are some good ones though with New Ulm Cathedral versus Minnesota Valley Lutheran being at the top of the list. Both are out of Section 2A which is of course one of the top sections int he state. Other big games include Mankato West versus Worthington and Big Lake playing at Dassel-Cokato.
Playoff Central Everyday. Playoff Central will be a daily item for the next two weeks talking upsets, big match-ups, must attend venues, and honoring the players that stood out in big ways. Follow along, March Madness is about to get real exciting, as long as the snow holds off.
