Eastern Guilford Junior Guard/Forward Nic Cheeley: Efficient is the word that describes him best, he didn’t take a bunch of shots but he made the ones he took, going for 5 for 5 from the field and finishing with 14 points. One of his biggest shots was a three pointer that cut the lead in the final moments of the game and gave his team a chance at possibly tying or winning.
Pamlico County Senior Guard Caleb Baron: One of the bigger shots that he knocked down was a three pointer with time expiring to end the third quarter. The shot helped to swing momentum and gave his squad even more confidence than they previously had, he is a natural scorer but remained unselfish and made the right plays.
Northside HS Senior Guard/Forward Gabe Kirkendoll: One of the better shooters that we saw during the day, he played well and shot a very high percentage finishing with 17 points on the day. Elizabeth City State has already offered and a program like Newberry could possibly be a good spot for him as well as he is a player that could fit well in an up-tempo offense.
Rocky Mount Prep Senior Wing Khalil Baker: Offensively he got off to a slow start but as the game went on he picked it up and you could see why he averaged almost 25 points a night. He has a smooth game and a lethal spin move that he used quite a few times to get into the paint, also can shoot it very well from deep.
Rocky Mount Prep Junior Wing Toyaz Solomon: One of the more versatile players that we saw throughout the day, he is 6’6 and showed that he can play the SF, PF and even the center. His wingspan is something that caught our attention almost instantly and he may grow some more over the next two years, nice upside to this young man.
Northside HS Senior Forward Demetrius Jones: Whatever his team needs him to do, that’s exactly what he does. Whether it’s battling with bigs, rebounding, scoring the ball, or even switching on to a guard defensively. Overall he almost finished with a double/double with 9 points and 7 rebounds, he also had 2 steals.
