NCHSAA 2A East Region All-State Tournament Team: Part 1
First Flight HS 2020 Guard Dylan Blake: One of the top shooters in the state, we knew that all types of different defenses would be thrown at him in the playoffs. That alone should tell you how special of a player he is, he opened up the playoffs with a 23 point performance against Goldsboro HS.
Clinton HS 2018 Guard Kris Williams: Every team needs a good PG to lead the squad and be a coach on the floor and that’s what Kris was able to be for Clinton HS. He understands how to get the squad into their sets quickly but was a player that defenses could not overlook as he was a very good three point shooter.
Clinton HS 2018 Forward Dewan Lesense: We all like a player that plays the game with a certain level of intensity and that’s what he brings to the table as well as impressive athletic ability. He makes plays on both ends of the floor above the rim and even though he is only 6’3, he can be placed at multiple positions.
Goldsboro HS 2018 Forward/Center Tyzhaun Claude: Whatever program that is fortunate enough to get him will be very happy as he has a nice amount of upside in his game. With good athletic ability, length and timing, Low Major and High D2 programs should be blowing up his phone right now.
Trask HS 2020 Guard Jajuan Carr: Carr took Trask HS on a ride this season that will not be forgotten any time soon, he put together some big time scoring performances and has a made his case for being a top sophomore in the area and eastern side of the state.
Southwest Onslow 2019 Dharyus Thomas: His play in the first two rounds was a major reason why Southwest Onslow was able to survive and advance. Against Trask HS he went for 30 points, and he followed up that performance with a 19 point game at First Flight HS.
Fairmont HS 2018 Guard Derrick Arnette: If you know anything about Fairmont then you know they are known for the defensive ability of their guards. Derrick fits that mold but also is a player that has shown this season that he can score the ball nicely when he’s called upon.
