Our first regional quarterfinals started on Tuesday in Louisville. Those recaps can be found HERE. Last night all the other 14 regions tipped off and there were some upsets and some great games. Here’s a brief look at each region’s results:

  • In the 1st, Mayfield and McCracken rolled past their opponents and into what should be a really good semifinal matchup on Saturday. Mayfield knocked off Fulton City 82-59 and McCracken topped Murray 55-33. The Guthrie twins against the McCracken trio should be a fun game this weekend.
  • The Second Region saw Christian County demolish Madisonville 68-45 and Henderson fend off a good effort from Lyon County. Kale Gaither led Henderson. They’ll have to try to stop DeTorrion Ware in the Semis.
  • Apollo ran away from Meade County in the 3rd region and Ohio County escaped with a one point win over Edmonson County. Apollo lost to Ohio County by 4 in January. They’ll have a chance at revenge this weekend.
  • Bowling Green smashed Clinton County 78-52. Jarius Key was player of the game for the Purples. In a minor upset, Todd County Central beat Monroe County. Bowling Green will be a heavy favorite to beat Todd and get back to the regional title game. Freshman Isaiah Mason has been great lately for BG.
  • In the first true upset of the night, Campbellsville beat Bardstown 57-55 to advance to the semifinals of the 5th region. John Hardin dismantled Caverna 88-53 on their way to the semifinals.
  • Anderson County advanced to the semifinals of the 8th region as they beat Henry County 58-45. Another upset occurred in the 8th as Walton-Verona lost to South Oldham 65-59.
  • The 9th region saw Dixie Heights destroy Ryle 77-51 while Holy Cross upset Newport 55-54. Here’s a look at the final possession for Newport after Holy Cross took the lead on a free throw:

  • In the 10 region, things went as expected and we’re headed for a George Rogers Clark vs Campbell County semifinal. GRC beat Bracken County 72-51 and Campbell County survived a scare from Harrison County 70-60. GRC was led by Brennan Canada with 22.
  • In the 11th, LCA pummeled Frankfort 88-58 to advance. Madison Central and Bryan Station went to triple overtime in the other quarterfinal. Central emerged victorious 73-64 behind Junior Isaiah Cozart’s 13 blocks. Eric Boone had a triple double in his last game for the Defenders.
  • The 12th region had a pair of great games as Pulaski County outlasted West Jessamine 90-83. Southwestern Pulaski beat Boyle County 62-60 in Overtime. Boyle’s leading scorer fouled out in regulation on a phantom call you can see here. Bryce Slone  is #5 in White:

  • Corbin beat Jackson County 67-47 in the 13th. Senior Andrew Taylohad 26 points, 20 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals for the Redhounds. The other semifinal had Knox Central obliterate Harlan 86-54. Markelle Turner scored 23 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in the win.
  • Cordia beat Hazard 62-49 in the first quarterfinal in the 14th region. Estill County beat Wolfe County 66-57 in the other quarterfinal. Wolfe Senior Deven Stone was held to 6-17 from the field in the loss.
  • Belfry edged Shelby Valley 65-62 in the 15th. They’ll advance and take on Johnson Central. Johnson beat Prestonsburg 76-65 in the other game of the night.
  • In the 16th, Raceland beat Bath County in overtime 43-38 and the best finish of the night came as junior Devaunte Robinson hit a jumper to beat Morgan County, as seen here:
