Grassroots Preview: CKY Magic 16u Robinson
With the Kentucky high school season in our rear view mirror, it’s time to start looking forward to the Grassroots AAU season. Continuing our coverage, we take a look at Coach Derek Robinson’s CKY Magic squad. This Magic group is made up of kids from the 11th and 13th regions. Coached by Frederick Douglass’ Derek Robinson, this particular Magic group is newly assembled. They look to make a statement on the Silver Adidas Circuit. Here’s a look at their roster and schedule.
Roster
Nakyir Joyce, Frederick Douglass – The guard saw limited action for a Douglass team loaded with smaller guards. In 9 games of varsity action, Joyce averaged 2 points per contest.
Nakwan Joyce, Frederick Douglass – Joyce was not a part of the Varsity roster at Douglass. Only 5’9, Nakwan Joyce, like Nakyir, is a point guard.
Trent Moberly, Madison Southern – A sophomore starter for the Eagles, Moberly scored 6.6 points per game while grabbing 4.2 rebounds per game.
Marquis Mackey, Henry Clay – Mackey logged 4 points in 11 varsity games for the Blue Devils this season.
Alex Hostettler, South Laurel – A small, shifty point guard, Hostettler played 31 games of varsity for the 13th region runner-up this season. Alex scored 4 points per game from the PG spot.
Jaylan Green, Henry Clay – Green, like teammate Marquis Mackey, saw the floor in 11 varsity games this year, averaging just shy of one point per game.
KoKo Lukonga, Henry Clay – Lukonga only played 5 games of varsity this season for Henry Clay. He totaled 4 points and 5 rebounds in that time.
Lincoln Bush, Frederick Douglass – Bush is tied for the tallest player on the CKY roster at 6’7″. He averaged a point and 2 rebounds per game for Douglass in 15 games of varsity play.
Joseph Meador, Franklin County – Like Bush, Meador stands 6’7″. Meador scored 2 points and grabbed one rebound in only 2 varsity games this year.
Rodrell Dryden, Dunbar – Long and athletic but very raw, Dryden scored 2 points and pulled down 6 rebounds in 9 games of varsity action for Dunbar this season.
Wil Wharton, Lafayette – A 6 foot tall guard, Wharton did not see the floor for the Generals varsity squad this past regular season.
