With the Kentucky high school season in our rear view mirror, it’s time to start looking forward to the Grassroots AAU season. Kicking off the coverage, we take a look at the 17U Kentucky Royals. The Royals are made of predominantly Northern Kentucky players. Coached by Tricia Macke, the Royals are coming off of a successful 16u campaign and will look to make a statement on the Silver Adidas Circuit.
Chad Ohmer, Scott – The Junior guard averaged 14 points and 4 rebounds for a Scott team that fell to Campbell County in the 10th region title game.
Spencer Macke, Highlands – 6’2 SG did not play varsity for the Bluebirds this season according to KHSAA statistics.
Ty Houston, Cooper – 6’4 Wing averaged 3 points and 2 rebounds this season for the Jags.
Justin Pappas, Badin – A 6’4″ wing from Badin Catholic School in Ohio.
Zach Deatherage, Beechwood – 6’4 Shooting Guard averaged 6 points and 3 rebounds per game in 21 contests for the Tigers.
Tanner Lawrence, Campbell Co. – 6’3″ Forward averaged 5 points and 4 rebounds while seeing action in every game for 10th region champion Campbell County.
TJ Deere, Covington Catholic – A 6’4 shooter, Deere averaged 2 points and 2 rebounds in 23 games for the state champion Colonels.
Pete Knochelmann, Covington Holy Cross – Standing 6’8″, Knochelmann averaged 10 points and 8 rebounds per game for Holy Cross.
