On March 31 and April 1, Hoop Exchange along with Source Hoops is holding its annual Travel Team Jamboree and Media Day. Each team is given a minimum of two games in front of national and local scouting services and college coaches. In addition, players and coaches will interview in which a recruiting profile is made for each team. This years teams feature top players from every corner of Florida. This should provide some very exciting competition as the field includes shoe company sponsored team as well as some unknown and waiting to break out teams and players.
This event kicks off the travel season for most teams. Even though its just a jamboree some teams use this as a measuring point to see how talented their team is, what the players have retained in mini camps/ practices thus far, and coaches are looking to see if players belong with the scheme they’ve put together. Being this early in the travel year players and coaches are looking for the perfect fit. Following this event some players may switch teams, some guys who had been unnoticed/ underrated may stand out, and/ or players/ coaches may see that they are not as talented as they believed.
Travel Team Jamboree and Media Day was created to be a kickoff/ exposure event to began the travel year. Will the teams be exposed or gain exposure? Will the players choke under pressure or rise to the test? Will a no name guy make a name for himself or will a known guy fold due to not being prepared? All these questions and more can be answered at CPS Sportsplex on Athlete’s Row in Apopka on Saturday and Sunday.
