The Class A All State Team
PHD honors the best Class A basketball players in the state of South Dakota with today’s Class A All State Team.
First Team All State
AJ Plitzuwiet of Vermillion, Senior. AJ averaged 33.9 points, 9.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.9 steals per his team and was recently named the Gatorade Player of the Year and next year will play at Augustana. Plitzuweit is the consensus top player in the state of South Dakota.
Aaron Fiegen of Madison, Senior. Fiegen and the Bulldogs won the state championship winning 24 of their 25 games and Fiegen, who is headed to South Dakota State, have his team 18.4 points per game with seven rebounds this year as the 6-foot-7 versatile weapon.
Noah Freidel of Tea Area, Junior. At 27.4 points per game this year Freidel was one of the most versatile scoring threat in the state. Despite constant attention Noah scored on 48 percent of his field goals and was a 38-39 percent shooter at the arc. And this is while dealing with an annoying knee problem.
Trevor Hanson of Sioux Valley, Senior. Hanson was the most dominating player in the paint in South Dakota this winter scoring 22 points per game with 11 rebounds on a balanced team. Hanson will play for Augustana next season.
Dylan LeBrun of Flandreau, Senior. The state’s most explosive finisher at the rim scored 26.3 points per game grabbing 10.9 rebounds a contest with a couple blocks. LeBrun will also be at Augustana next season.
Second Team All State
Koln Oppold of SF Christian, Senior. The Chargers ddin’t lose a game until state and were very balanced. Oppold led his team in scoring (13 a game) and assists plus grabbed six boards a night.
Jadon Janke of Madison, Senior. What people will remember the most is his 23 points on 6 of 7 shooting at the arc in the state title game. A future SDSU football player, Jadon averaged 14 points a game with six rebounds and four assists.
Jaxon Janke of Madison, Senior. Jaxon led the team in steals and boards, scored 14 a game, will be at SDSU for football as well, and had 22 in the state title contest performing right along side his brother.
Jack McCabe of Dakota Valley, Senior. Moved from a 2-3 basket a game guy to a player that will compete in college hoops at Morningside plus shot 41 percent from the arc leading his balanced team in scoring.
Jeffrey Schuch of Dell Rapids, Senior. Led Dells with 15 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists a contest. Fantastic all around numbers for an all Dak12 talent that led his team to a 17-5 record.
Third Team All State
Trevor Olson of Sioux Valley, Senior. Scored 21 points a contest becoming one of the more versatile scorers in the state.
Gus Reede of Aberdeen Roncalli, Senior. One of the state’s top shooter scored right around 20 points per contest.
Lincoln Unruh of SF Christian, Senior. Handled the ball, defended as one of the best, scored 11 a night for a 1-loss squad.
Alejandro Rama of Red Cloud, Junior. Gave his team 22.4 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals a game.
Stephen Fernholz of Miller, Senior
Fourth Team All State
Joe Sazue III of Crow Creek, Senior. Averaged 24 points a game.
Russell Leader Charge of Red Cloud, Senior, Scored 17 points a game.
Bryce Scieszinksi of Bon Homme, Senior. Led his team with 17 points a night.
Mitch Goodbary of SF Christian, Junior. Scored 13 a game with 7 boards.
Justin Hohn of Tea Area, Junior. Scored 11 a game and led Tea in assists.
