The Class B State Tournament will kickoff today at SNU.
Below are previews for each team that made the State Tournament.
The Chieftains enter the State Tournament after defeating Buffalo in the Area Consolation Championship 61-57. Calumet is lead by senior Point Guard Riley Island. Island is a full dimensional Point Guard who can do a little bit of everything. Having a guy like Island running the offense is key to the Chieftains hopes of winning the title. Calumet will play Duke in the 1st round of the State Tournament.
Duke comes in the State Tournament after upsetting #3 Lookeba-Sickles in thier Area Championship 74-61. After failing to defeat Indiahoma twice during the regular season, the Tigers were able to turn things around in the Regional Championship defeating them 55-52. Duke will play Calumet in the 1st round of the State Tournament.
The Wildcats enter the State Tournament as the hottest team in Class B. Earlsboro ran through the playoffs with their closest win coming in the Area Championship game in which they defeated #7 Timberlake 57-53. Earlsboro will take on Whitesboro in the 1st round of the State Tournament.
Indiahoma stumbled early in the playoffs getting upset in their Regional Championship game against #11 Duke. The Warriors were able to bounce back and sweep through the Area Consolation bracket beating Lookeba-Sickles in the Consolation Championship 63-52. Indiahoma will play Leedey in the 1st round of the State Tournament.
Kinta drew a tough matchup in the 1st round of the State Tournament having to play against Red Oak, a team in which the Eagles were crushed by earlier in the season. The Eagles will look to win this time around after defeating a tough Timberlake squad in the Area Consolation Championship 51-42.
Leedey enters the State Tournament as one of the hottest teams in the post season. The Bison were able to upset #4 Calumet in the Area Championship game. The Bison have yet to lose in the playoffs and will look to continue their winning streak as they take on Indiahoma in the 1st round of the State Tournament.
Red Oak (24-4)
Red Oak enters the State Tournament bolstering the strongest strength of schedule in the class having played 15 of their 28 games against ranked opponents. The Eagles swept through the playoffs which were capped off with an Area Championship win over #5 Paden.
Whitesboro has had quite the challenge in the playoffs having to beat the #19, #17, and #6 team in Class B all in a row to make the State Tournament. The Bulldogs have played many good teams, but those won’t compare to having to play #1 Earlsboro team in the 1st round of the State Tournament. The Bulldogs did defeat #5 Paden 47-28 in the Area Consolation Championship.
