Class A Stars
Who shone brightest Wednesday in Class A?
2019 G Landen Woodcock (Clay County)
What a incredible shooting display from junior Landen Woodcock. The quick fluttering of his wrist preceded six made three-pointers. Woodcock attacked the tin a little, but his outside shooting glittered the Murphy Center.
2020 G Mason Sharp (Clay County)
Mason didn’t play last year when the Bulldogs stomped to Murfreesboro. This March Mason scored 15 points and Clay County needed every one of them facing Douglass.
2018 G Jackson Hicks (Oakdale)
The Mr. Basketball Finalist made the biggest shot of the day seconds after Andy Stevens hit the biggest shot of the day. Hicks sent the game to overtime with his 23′ foot pull-up triple. Hicks finished with 33 points in a fantastic night. Imagine shooting 65.0% in any basketball game. Jackson did it in The Murphy Center in his final high school game.
2019 G Heath Kimes (Clay County)
Handling the Douglass pressure requires an odd mixture of a calm, level-head and quick, darting feet. Kimes showcased both to keep the ball moving. He was wonderful creating opportunities for teammates.
2018 G @michaeljhooping James (Douglass)
His three-pointer midway through the fourth quarter stung Clay County hard. Minutes later he applied another prick. He finished with 10 points after making 42% of his three-pointers.
2018 G Andy Stevens (North Greene)
Head Coach Sam Tarlton motivated his troops past a difficult Oakdale team. Andy Stevens dominated with 25 points on 7-14 shooting. He also made all eight of his free throw attempts.
2018 WG Martico Washington (Douglass)
The biggest strides in Class A might be Washington’s. He carved a track towards the basket time after time. Washington ended the victory with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
