Cape Fear Region Private School Final Rankings
#1 Trinity Christian (25-6)
Trinity finished the season in tremendous fashion, taking home the NCISAA 1A Championship which would be their 2nd Championship in 3 seasons. Junior Wings Joey Baker & Audiese Toney were both named to the All-State squad, the Crusaders did not lose one single game to a team from the Cape Fear region.
#2 Village Christian (18-10)
The Knights season didn’t end how they wanted but they turned plenty of heads this season, in two out of three of their matchups with Trinity the game came down to the very last few moments. They would advance to the NCISAA 2A Semis to eventually be eliminated by the team that would win the state championship this year.
#3 Freedom Christian (14-15)
The backcourt combination of Junior Jamahri Harvey and Brandon Murray provided a huge amount of scoring for the team and will be one to watch closely next season. They exited early in the state tournament but have much to look forward to with a nice amount of the team returning next season.
#4 New Life Christian (33-11)
The Monarchs finished the season on a very high note, winning the state championship and the national championship in their division. They lose two seniors to graduation but will return the majority of the squad such as Sophomores Reggie Walton and Reggie Raynor. Look for New Life to make some major noise next season as they have put plenty of people on notice about what is going on at New Life Christian Academy.
#5 Northwood Temple (14-19)
The Eagles had an up and down season filled with injuries , some of the bright spots for the team were Junior Guard Josh Nickelberry who would eventually be named All-State, and NC State signee Ian Steere who had plenty of highlight moments throughout the season.
#6 Fayetteville Academy (14-14)
The season ended in a very disappointing manner for the Eagles, the team hit a losing skid during playoff time and would make early exists from the Conference and State Tournament. The Eagles return their entire team for next year where they will be under the direction of Coach Boyette formerly of Terry Sanford HS.
#7 Cape Fear Christian (11-20)
It was an up and down season for the squad as they pulled off some upsets but also came up short on a few occasions. With the departure of multiple seniors as well as their head coach, it will be interesting to see how things shape out for the Eagles. They feature some young talent in Freshman Guard Emmanuel Sepulved to go along with Juniors that have solid size.
#8 Berean Baptist Academy (24-5)
The Bulldogs finished the season by taking home the conference championship and will return their starting backcourt of Freshman Guard Kelton Battle and Junior Wing Aaron Sinclair.
#9 Fayetteville Christian School (6-19)
The Warriors didn’t have the season that they wanted but the experience that they gained this year is priceless, we saw the emergence of Junior Guard Bennet Newman as well as Junior Guard Avery Daniels turning heads. Be on the lookout for this squad next season as they will be a year older and more comfortable, their conference is loaded so don’t let the record fool you.
