CaliHoop Senior Showcase: Snipers and Slashers
Over the weekend, Alhambra High School (Martinez), was home to the CaliHoop Senior Showcase. It was here that sixty unsigned seniors performed in front of college coaches for an opportunity to play at the next level. Here is a look at some of the best snipers from deep as well as the slashers to the cup.
Kyle Bolding (Manteca) 5’11
The slashing southpaw has a gift for getting into the lane with a skillful handle. He uses that gift to find open teammates with his very high I.Q. for the game. A capable shooter who uses that ability to be an even more effective driver.
Ricky Griffin ||| (Hercules), 6’1
This kid is an elite speedster who you absolutely don’t want to deal with on the fast break. His top end speed and strong handle let him whiz past defenders with ease as he looks to elevate over defenders and finish with powerful dunks. He showed an underrated passing ability when attacking the paint.
Drew Legan (Oakdale), 5’11
Here’s a player who plays with as much patience as you’ll see. Never in a hurry, he has defenders jumping out of their shoes as they bite on his heavy use of shot fakes. Defenders don’t act that way unless they’re guarding a serious shooter. When he isn’t launching from deep, he displays a strong understanding of the game as he makes various passes to teammates with ease.
Blake Greenlee (East Union), 6’5
An elite three point marksman with very deep range. In catch and shoot situations, he is absolutely lethal especially on the pick and pop. With a high arc to match his frame, he possesses a shot that’s difficult to block. He has a gift for knocking down shots regardless if the defense has a hand in his face or not.
