Georgia’s Class 7A Final Four Preview
Only 4 teams remain in Georgia’s class 7A playoff bracket. Their preview is as followed:
Norcross vs. Newton: This matchup has come as a surprise to many, as Norcross knocked off 7A championship-favorite McEachern by an outstanding 20-point deficit. Brandon Boston (pictured) led Norcross with 25 points and Dalvin White scored 6 points with team-high 8 assists. Issa Muhammad contributed 14 points and 13 rebounds and was the X factor in the dominating win. On the other hand, Newton edged out Wheeler 87-81. Per usual, Ashton Hagans showed up big with a game-high 31 points with 16 points coming in the 4th quarter. In order for Newton to defeat Norcross, Hagans must play his best game of the season. I believe the length and athleticism of Norcross will be too much for Hagans and Newton. I have Norcross advancing to the 7A championship.
Grayson vs. Meadowcreek: Continuing this trend of upsets in 7A, Grayson knocked off region-champion Pebblebrook and advances to its second consecutive Final Four. Led by the backcourt of Travis Anderson and Nick Edwards, it is very difficult to keep these two out of the lane. Against Pebblebrook, Edwards scored 19 points while Anderson scored 14. Terrance Porter came up huge with a team-high 20 points. On the other side of Gwinnett County, Meadowcreek defeated Campbell to advance to its first Final Four in school history. Jamir Chaplin scored 21 points in the win, and Cory Hightower chipped in with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Although Meadowcreek has made a great run thus far, I believe Grayson’s backcourt will be too much to handle. I have Grayson advancing to the 7A championship.
7A championship: I predict a Gwinnett County showdown of Norcross vs. Grayson with Norcross winning 7A this year.
