Breakdown: When looking at the class of 2021 in regards to rebounding ability, you have to note the overall size. There are many different players with size in this class. We have true back-to-the-basket guys as well as stretch forwards. These five listed above are all outstanding and have proven over the course of their freshman seasons that they can impact the game.
Caleb Furst has been very good this year for Blackhawk Christian and is solid on the boards. His mobility is what is key. He’s able to play well away from the rim and get to wherever he needs to to get the board. His true size and length are assets early on.
D.J. Hughes is really adept at using his length. He’s all over the place as well but he’s more in the post and can reach back and grab the ball better than anyone else in the class. He’s only going to get better as he improves his positioning.
Kyle Ross is a lock down guy in his area. He doesn’t have as much length as Hughes but once he grabs the ball, he isn’t giving it up. He’s able to outmuscle anyone down low and is still mobile enough to track it off the rim and go get it.
Chrishawn is an interesting prospect as the only wing on this list. Mostly due to his crazy length and athleticism, he is able to go and track down anything he needs to. Playing more on the wing and running at the rim, his ability to reel in the ball is awesome and he has so much more to draw out of his skill set.
Curt is among the best rebounders in the class, not necessarily due to his body or frame but his intelligence and aggressiveness. He knows where he needs to be and has the ability to get there. Where he excels is winning the ball. He’s not going to be outdone by guards or even other bigs. He’s just better.
