Something new we are looking at this year is looking at different regions or quadrants in the state. There are many areas and hotbeds of talent in the state and we want to take a little bit more of a microscope to them to see what the nuances of the state will produce in each class. This is our look at Region 5 in Southeastern Indiana.
Breakdown: Usually, the Southeastern par of the state isn’t really the strongest. Without a huge metropolis to draw from and the least amount of schools, it is tough to get a strong concentration but you can draw quite a bit from the Louisville are with New Albany, Jeffersonville, and Floyd Central. Greensburg and Batesville can provide quite a bit at times over four classes but not a ton in just one class.
With this group of five players, you do have some really interesting talent and even though the depth isn’t there, all of them have some upside that could make them extremely coveted. The Silver Creek duo is very, very talented and they will be able to shock some people down the road. Hatton still has a ton more to draw out and Lane Sparks is about as solid of a scoring guard as you will find in the class. The Heidbreder kid is there as well but he’s still looking like he will grow a ton yet.
There are a few names that should be added to this list in the next few months as well get out on the AAU scene for the first full year of 2021’s and that will be able to help but this does still look like the lightest of the five regions of the state in the class.
