2018 USA National Prep Basketball Championships Standouts
Prep Hoops takes a look at some players in the 2018 class from the Hoop State that stood out this past weekend in the National Prep Basketball Championships in this article.
Ludovic Dufeal – Moravian Prep (Hickory, NC)
Dufeal 6’8 left-handed post player was great all weekend long. Dufeal hails from the country of Martinique and has a close friend in former NBA player Ronnie Turiaf. Dufeal has a slender build but has added some weight since arriving at Moravian Prep back in mid-December 2017. Dufeal has great timing when it comes to getting off the floor to block shots. Dufeal can explode around the basket and has great footwork. Dufeal just 18 years is a academic qualifier according to Head Coach Jeremy Ellis.
Lloyd Pandi – Bull City Prep HS (Raleigh, NC) (pictured on front)
Pandi exploded to the rim all weekend long and helped Bull City HS win their bracket over Beckley Prep (WV). Pandi originally from Canada didn’t miss a shot in the two games Prep Hoops watched him here. Pandi knocked down three pointers and showed great body control finishing in transition. Pandi is reported to be a academic qualifier according to Head Coach Darryl Harris.
Malique Jacobs – Bull City Prep HS (Raleigh, NC)
Jacobs a big guard from Wilmington, NC has played the past 2 seasons here for Bull City Prep. Jacobs recently signed with Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. Jacobs visited Northwest Florida State, Southeastern Community College (IA) and Tallahassee Community College before deciding on the Blue Dragons.
Brian Free – Piedmont Classical (Greensboro, NC)
Free has the green light to shoot the ball whenever and from wherever on the floor. Free a undersized scoring guard can really knockdown the 3 ball with range. Free has received interest from Pfeiffer University (NC). Free averaged 13.6 ppg this season for the Bobcats (26-13).
Travon Mayo – Piedmont Classical (Greensboro, NC)
Mayo is a strong slasher that likes to play in transition. Mayo likes to drive to the hole and really doesn’t have a true position on the floor. Mayo will defend a post player on the defensive end. Mayo averaged 14.7 ppg this season for the Bobcats.
Augustine Ominu – Mount Zion Christian Academy (Durham, NC)
Ominu 6’8 will knock your block off in the paint. Ominu originally from Nigeria has been here since 2016. Ominu loves to play on contact and has a great motor. Ominu has to work on his offensive game for the next level. Ominu tends to be a strong student in the classroom.
Trejan Woods – Mount Zion Christian Academy (Durham, NC)
Woods a Canton, OH native is a deep range shooter. Woods shows to have a quick shot release and really pops off screens nicely. Woods averaged 9.8 ppg this season.
