2018 Allin Blunt discusses commitment to UMass-Lowell
One of the top ranked 2018 unsigned seniors in the DMV came off the board Monday night as 6’6 Allin Blunt, of Gonzaga College High School committed to UMass-Lowell. Blunt is a versatile forward that does whatever his team is needed of him. He has a high basketball iq and does all the small things on both sides of the ball. He is able to create shots for himself and his teammates and is aggressive with the ball in his hands. Defensively, he is always active and never standing still.
Blunt did not play varsity basketball until 11th grade but his great motor on a legendary high school program helped him get notice by coaches, “So my freshman and sophomore year I played JV. Junior year was my first year on varsity, I did not play that much and sat most games. Senior year I was given the chance to start and I took full advantage of it by never dropping my motor and went 100% all the time.”
Blunt broke down on why he chose UMass, “So first, the coaches loved me and I was their number one priority. Once I went on campus, I fell in love and then the players made it feel even more like home. They treated me like one of their own so immediately I knew what I wanted to do as far as making a decision.”
When Blunt steps on campus he expects to contribute right away, “I feel that I will be placed in a big role as a freshman especially with one of their key players leaving so I will have big shoes to fill.”
