Underrated 2019 Prospects: Five players that need more attention (Part 2)
The 2019 class in Florida is deep and talented.
University School forward Vernon Carey Jr. leads the way as the No. 1 prospect in the current junior class.
There are a ton of other 2019 prospects that deserve attention.
Here are five more guys that need more college looks.
Robert Hardy (Superior Collegiate)
Both long and quick, 2019 Superior Collegiate forward Robert Hardy is a natural born leader. He has a knack for a big shot, whether that comes from outside or at the mid-range. Hardy stands at 6’5″ and is able to mix it up inside with his slashing ability.
Jordan Preaster (Central Florida Christian)
This summer, Jordan Preaster made the decision to transfer to Central Florida Christian from Evans. The 6’6″ forward has excelled all season long for a CFCA group that just took down Florida Prep in the Class 2A region final. Preaster is a gifted and athletic kid who sets the tone early in games.
Toru Dean (South Miami)
You always know when Toru Dean is in the game. The 6’1″ South Miami guard runs an offense with ease and seems to always get a touch before either dishing it out or attacking the paint. Defensively, he has a ton of energy and fierceness.
Byron Smith (The Villages)
In the cut of a playmaking point guard, Byron Smith moved from P.K. Yonge to The Villages this season to pair with 2019 guard Tre Mann. The junior duo played well off one another. Smith, a 6’0″ guard has the ability to make plays on his own and his initial burst is quite impressive.
Joshua Young (Lakewood Ranch)
Coming down from Tennessee this summer, Joshua Young was a superb addition to a deep Lakewood Ranch group. The 6’6″ forward is a rebounding machine and it seemed as if every time I saw him play, he would score 10 points and grab more than 10 boards. Young projects for an even bigger role as a senior for the Mustangs.
