Underrated 2019 Prospects: Five players that need more attention (Part 1)
The 2019 class in Florida is deep and talented.
University School forward Vernon Carey Jr. leads the way as the No. 1 prospect in the current junior class.
There are a ton of other 2019 prospects that deserve attention.
Here are five guys that need more college looks.
Joshua Williams (Choctaw)
A scrappy 5’10” point guard, Joshua Williams always plays with a purpose. The Choctaw guard is a leader for his group and he runs an offense very well with his ballhandling and vocal ability. Williams is having a solid year on both ends of the floor and he should propel that into a steady summer on the circuit.
Charles West (Spanish River)
In Miami, Charles West is one of the most consistent performers we saw all year long. The 6’2″ guard is wiser than his age on and off the floor. He’s a polite kid who quietly gets the job done for Spanish River. West had a nice summer this past year with Ball4Lyfe and he should play hard once again.
Robert Gomez (Nature Coast)
There is something about Robert Gomez that stands out to me every time I see him play. The 6’3″ Nature Coast shooting guard cannot only shoot with ease, but he knows when to take the ball to the rim at the right time. Gomez’s instincts are through the roof and his game translates well to the next level.
JaMarcus Robertson (Tampa Bay Tech)
When you think of toughness and attacking ability, JaMarcus Robertson is full of that. He’s singlehandedly won Tampa Bay Tech games this season with his willingness to go to the rack. The 5’11” guard is built like a linebacker so his strong legs and upper body give him an advantage over a lot of defenders.
Evan Busby (Deltona)
Long and athletic, Evan Busby is slowly coming into his own for Deltona. Once, the 6’2″ guard/forward turns up the jets and attacks the basket more he’ll start to earn more college looks. He has to get stronger this off-season and summer to boost his stock. Regardless, Busby is packed with potential.
