Top Standouts: Community School vs. Tampa Catholic
Tampa Catholic welcomed Community School of Naples on Thursday night in a Class 5A region quarterfinal.
The Crusaders upended Community School 88-55 as the fourth quarter was playing under a running clock.
Senior guard Tim Carter led all scorers with 18 points while sophomore guard/forward Kobe Knox had 16 points for Tampa Catholic. Community School earned a 15-point outing from junior guard Parker Weiss.
Here are the top standouts from the evening.
Tim Carter (Tampa Catholic)
Carter had 11 points at the half which included a half court 3-pointer to beat the first quarter buzzer. The 6’2′ senior guard added seven more points in the second half featuring a one-handed slam and a corner 3. Carter paced his offense and played a complete game from start to finish.
Kobe Knox (Tampa Catholic)
Bright moments came in this game from Knox. The 6’2″ sophomore hit four 3’s as he was able to get his feet set more often than not. Knox is coming into his own late this season and all the work he’s put in is apparent.
Parker Weiss (Community School)
For Community School, Parker Weiss finished with a team-best 15 points. The 6’2″ junior guard was the best attacker on the floor and leader for the Seahawks. He’ll be counted upon to push the tempo for his group next season as a senior.
Jeff Donahue (Community School)
Undersized at 5’7″, senior guard pitched in with 14 points. He made things happen from outside and that turned out to be his biggest contribution to his side. Donahue is a tough-minded ball handler and defender.
Darren Robinson/Alijah Harrison (Tampa Catholic)
Senior Darren Robinson scored 11 points which included a trio of 3’s. Sophomore Alijah Harrison pitched in with eight points with some sound takes to the rim. Robinson and Harrison are essential to Tampa Catholic’s success. When Robinson shoots at a high clip from outside and Harrison mixes it up inside, the Crusaders are hard to slow down.
