The Talent: Tulsa Memorial vs Booker T. Washington
Booker T. Washington and Tulsa Memorial played the game of the year on Tuesday night. The game was back and forth throughout with the biggest lead being no more than 6 points at any time throughout the game. The biggest difference at the end of a quarter was 3 points at the end of the third when Booker T. Washington lead 57-54. Then Memorial took the advantage and forced Booker T. to fight for overtime in the fourth quarter. The overtime was no different either. Both teams were on fire as Keylan Boone and Jaycson Bereal hit huge shots back to back for their respective team. The Hornets went on to win the game 71-68 after Trey Phipps hit two clutch free throws to finish the game.
Jaycson Bereal 2018 Booker T. Washington Wing
Bereal was dominant on the night. Facing what are the toughest defenders he will face all year in the Boone twins and Kori Guest, he still did not miss a beat. He even added to his list of impressive dunks. Bereal was well guarded by Keylan Boone on multiple possessions, as he would hit a step back or fadeaway over the 6’8 defender. Bereal could not be stopped on the night and would win anyone’s MVP for the game, as he was the difference-maker for the Hornets. He finished with 25 points on the night.
Kalib Boone 2019 Tulsa Memorial Post
Kalib Boone showed why many think he is the best player in the 2019 class in the state of Oklahoma. Boone was dominant on the defensive end coming up with blocks on several big possessions. He caused the Booker T. players to shoot over him and was definitely the best defensive player in the game. Boone also showed up on the offensive side of the ball as well. He provided a few crowd-pleasing dunks as he finished with 15 points on the night.
Keylan Boone 2019 Tulsa Memorial Wing
Keylan Boone was the catalyst for Tulsa Memorial on the offensive end of the court. Boone could not be stopped by the Hornets as he and Bereal battled back and forth all night. Boone hit multiple clutch shots for the Chargers as they kept the game close. He was the reason that the Chargers played as well as they did. Boone finished with a game-high 27 points.
Trey Phipps 2020 Booker T. Washington Guard
Trey Phipps drew a lot of attention tonight. The Chargers keyed on Phipps and did their best to shut down Phipps. While he drew so much attention, some of his teammates were left open to hit shots. Phipps was not kept quiet though. They may have slowed him down, but he still impacted the game. Phipps’ biggest impact was hitting two clutch free-throws to ice the game for Booker T. Washington. Phipps finished with 12 points on the night.
Bryce Thompson Booker T. Washington Guard
While Thompson is usually the star in his own right, he played second fiddle to Bereal tonight. Thompson did not have a quiet game by any means. Thompson was consistent and was another star to show up in this star-studded matchup. Thompson hit deep three’s throughout the game. Booker T did not play much bench so Thompson made up for the production lost from the bench. Thompson finished with 20 points on the night.
