Recruiting Spotlight: 2019 Cade Potter
ORANGE CA— Orange Lutheran had an up-and-down season—but it comes at no surprise considering their strength of schedule and the youth that has littered it’s roster. There are a number of quality underclassmen including 6-foot-4 junior Isaiah Pope, but the focus of this prospect spotlight will be on 6-foot-7ish junior Cade Potter.
Potter is a spot-up shooter who shows a smooth touch out to 19-feet, yet has the length to convert plays in the paint. The pick-and-pop 4-man runs well in transition and has good instincts in the paint in the areas of rebounding and finishing.
Potter has a nice shooting stroke and he’s getting more assertive inside the paint.“I feel my shooting touch is the best part of my game,” explains Potter.
While scouting Potter the last few seasons it was noticeable early on that he had the potential to be a college player someday, but consistency and lack of strength were areas of concern. However, during his junior campaign Potter has shown to be a much more consistent finisher in the paint over length and is even starting to convert baskets through contact.
“Chris Nordstrom has helped these last couple seasons in many areas of my game, especially the importance of weight lifting. To play at the next level I need to get considerably stronger to finish through contact and bang inside for rebounding,’ notes Potter.
During the spring and summer, Potter will be running with either Southern California All Stars or Pump n Run. His areas of focus will be to improve his ball handling and finishing.
“I have received recruiting interest from University of San Diego and Utah State and with more and more improvement I hope to hear from other colleges as well,” explains Potter.
